“Thank you for taking time to meet with our group (and the tour). We learned so much about K-O Products, metal stamping and ways to best prepart our students.

We are all impressed by the business you’ve built and the people we met. It is clear why you and K-O Products are industry leaders. Thank you.”

with Stamping & Fabrication Services

K-O Products is a privately held firm, formed in 1938 and purchased by current owners Barbara and Dennis Herrold in 1987 from the founder. From the outset, the company’s name K-O Products has been a play on the last name of the founder, Mr. Cayo.

In the Fall of 1997, K-O Products was one of the first Metal Stamping companies to achieve ISO certification in western Michigan. This was a major achievement at the time – requiring complete documentation for all the manufacturing processes throughout the numerous K-O Products operations. ISO certification bolstered K-O Products standing among metal stamping suppliers, especially large corporations which gave recognition to companies who dedicated the time and effort to achieving ISO. This strengthened K-O Products automotive and appliance industry business.

In 1998 the Herrolds made the bold move to more than double the physical size of K-O Products in the move from its original location of 15,000 sq ft. along Route 139 in Benton Harbor to its current location at 1225 Milton Street, expanding to 75,000 square feet.

As business increased, K-O Products continued to expand to meet the need, this time purchasing the building next door along Milton Street in 2008 for an additional 75,000 square feet of manufacturing space. With this expansion came the Powder Coat facility along with space to add larger-tonnage Presses (800-ton) and for the first time, true Light Assembly facilities. Over time, the buildings were connected for a total of about 150,000 square feet total manufacturing space under one roof.

Never a team to rest on its laurels, the K-O Products team raised the bar another notch achieving TS-16949 certification in 2005. While TS certification was born to address specific automotive requirements, it provides many disciplines that the K-O team believes make K-O Products an excellent supplier for any customer in any industry. Requirements like PPAP (pre-production approval process) and APQP (advanced product quality planning) are disciplines applied to every project at K-O.
